Instagram is a photo sharing application for the iPhone. Shots you take can be instantly posted to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Flickr – amongst others – at the touch of a button.
Thankfully that’s not all there is to it. You can either shoot in the application or import a picture from your library. Next, you can apply a filter (or even add a tilt-shift effect) to dramatically alter the mood of your image.

As you can see, these filters take inspiration from the photography of the sixties and seventies, resulting in the retro look that is very popular right now.

You can also follow other users, in a similar manner to Twitter. Any new uploads from these appear in your feed upon launch of the app. Instagram can add a new dimension to your mobile photographs, and it’s free, so it’s definitely worth a try.
